York, Doris J. (Chaney) (January 9, 1932 - April 25, 2010)

 
Doris J. York, 78, Abbotsford, entered life triumphant Sunday, April 25, 2010 in Minnesota, with her family by her side.

 
Doris was born January 9, 1932, in Clark County, Ohio, the daughter of Walter and Oda (Sellman) Chaney. She graduated from Lake Geneva High School, and went on to Mt. Sinai Nursing School in Milwaukee.  
 

On March 10, 1951, the former Doris Chaney was united in marriage to James T. York in Lake Geneva.

 
Doris held many jobs over her life time including a Medical Transcriptionist for the Marshfield Clinic for over 12 years, Church Secretary, Farm Wife and her most cherished, Home Maker. She will always be remembered as a wise loving mother that was very caring and supportive.

 
Doris was a dedicated, active, and faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church, Abbotsford, where she held various positions from Sunday School Superintendant, Youth Advisor, Church Elder as well as Deacon, member of the Presbyterian Women and Star Circle. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, reading, and playing Euchre. Doris especially enjoyed knitting. She will always be remembered by the wonderful gifts that she made for family.

 
Doris is lovingly survived by her husband, James; her children, Sherry (Tim) Riggsbee of NC, Christine (Peter) Kaz of Owen, Darlene (Bud Barrett) York of Abbotsford, and James (Leslie) York of North St. Paul, Minn.; grandchildren, Richard, Thomas, Brooke, Ross, Peter, Spencer, and Abigail; and two sisters, Marjean and Florence. She is further survived by many great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. She will truly be missed.

 
Doris is predeceased by her parents, Walter and Oda; a granddaughter, Dena; a brother, Harold; and a sister, Viola.

 
Memorial services will be held at noon on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church, Abbotsford. Rev. Marcia Thomas will preside. A time of visitation will be held from 10:00-noon at the church on Wednesday.

 
Those wishing to express their sympathy are encouraged to do so in Doris’  name to the Lupus Foundation or the First Presbyterian Church.  
 

Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
