Schweiger, Ferdinand (27NOV 1888-18 SEPT 1947

 

Funeral services were conducted at 9 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic church here for Ferdinand Schweiger, 83, who died on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 18, at his home in the village, The Rev. Fr. Aloys Zinthefer officiated at the requiem high mass, and burial was in the parish cemetery.

 

Mr. Schweiger was born on Nov. 16, 1863, at Jefferson and was married on Nov. 27, 1888, to Anna Windl at Jefferson, where he had also received his education. After his marriage, he lived on a farm at Globe until 1902, when he moved to a farm near Loyal. In 1930 he retired and moved to his present home in Loyal. His wife died on Sept. 14, 1946.

 

Surviving are five children: Mrs. Frank (Bertha) Rueth, Mrs. Charles (Belle) Wehling, John Schweiger and Mrs. George (Marcella) Schellinger of Loyal, and Mrs. Charles (Hilda) Ley of Chili. Three children preceded him in death, two in infancy.

 

Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. John Hammes, of Jefferson, and three brothers, Louis of Loyal, Albert of Milwaukee and Adam of LaFayette, Ore. Fourteen brothers and sisters preceded him in death..

 

Pallbearers at the funeral were Leo Theisen, Ed Bertz, Frank Oestreich, Frank Degenhardt, Fred Stutte and Albert Davel.

 

Flower girls were Gwen Schellinger, Jane Schellinger, Joan Schellinger, Joan Langfeldt and Betty Miller.

 

Relatives from away who attended the funeral were Mrs. Ed Garthwait of Fort Atkinson, Mrs. Emery Kieson of Randolph, Mrs. Carl M. Ambras and Mrs. Maru Kriedermann of Jefferson, Mrs. Paul Gravitter and Mrs. R. Gravitter and Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Richmond and children and Mr. and Mrs. John Jacobi of Neillsville.

 

The Tribune extends to the bereaved its sympathy in the loss of a beloved father and grandfather.
