Klabon, Adella Lydia (Henschel) (March 16, 1919 - May 3, 2010) 
 

Adella Lydia (nee Henschel) Klabon (Adelle) was born on March 16, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois, to Gustav and Helen (Krentz) Henschel.   
 

Adelle went home to her Lord on Monday, May 3, 2010. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Chicago on April 1, 1919 and confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church, Chicago, on March 20, 1932.  She attended Bethel Lutheran School and John Marshall High School in Chicago.   As a teenager, she was active in Walther League and her church's choir.  She was also a Sunday School teacher in her early adulthood years.  
 

Following high school, Adelle worked at Montgomery Ward Company in Chicago as a typist and personnel clerk.  While visiting a friend in Withee, Wisconsin, she met her husband, Arthur R. Klabon, and they were married on November 23, 1944 at Bethel Lutheran Church, Chicago. They lived in Chicago until May of 1949, at which time they moved to Art's parents' farm north of Withee and farmed on the family farm. In 1961, they bought their own farm and farmed until October, 1971, when they moved to the Village of Withee.  Adelle then worked for Owen Dairy, Owen, WI and later at ITT Life Insurance Company, Thorp, WI until her retirement. 
 

She is survived by three sons: Arthur "Skip" L. (Debra) Klabon, Colby, WI; Duane (Sharon) Klabon, Amherst Junction, WI; Mark Klabon, Wisconsin Rapids, WI, and by one daughter, Laurel (Andrew) Halstead, Brookfield, WI. Further surviving are eight grandsons: Jason (Tami) Klabon, Matthew (Lucy) Klabon, Chad (Dawn) Klabon, Bill (Lori) Klabon, Alex Halstead, Quinton Klabon, Paul Halstead and Ross Klabon; two step-grandsons: Joshua and Brett Nichols; two step-granddaughters: Kelly (Kenneth) Higgins and Michele (Dana) Burrell; one great-grandson, Andrew Klabon; one great-granddaughter, Brenna Klabon; three step great-granddaughters: Amber and Aryn Higgins and Abigail Nichols; one step great-grandson, Jackson Nichols; and one step great-great granddaughter, Makayla Christenson-Higgins.  Two brothers, Arthur Henschel, San Diego, CA, and Ervin Henschel, San Jose, CA, and a brother-in-law Roger Waterman, Oshkosh, WI survives her.   Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Lillian Henschel, Chicago, IL; Emilie Hitzke, Chicago, IL; Tillie (Les) Pergande, Rockford, IL; and Dorothy Klabon, Withee, WI.  
 

She is predeceased by her husband, two brothers, and her sister. 
 

Adelle was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Withee, and its Ladies Aid and Wednesday morning Bible Study.  
 

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Colby Retirement Community and Ministry Home Care for their compassion and care. 
 

Her funeral service will be on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Withee.  The Rev. Thomas Myhre will officiate.  Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church on Saturday.  Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
