O’Neil, Frank James (29 May 1933 - 11 May 2010) With Flag 
 

Frank J. O’Neil, age 76, of Thorp, passed away on May 11, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.  A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 17, 2010, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp.  Rev. Keith Apfelbeck officiated and burial followed in Old St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery.   
 

Pallbearers were: Stan Zaworski Jr., Brian Zaworski, Jeffrey Zaworski, David Hallingstad, Michael Hallingstad, Steve O’Neil, and Dave Gonsior.  Visitation was held at Thorp Funeral home on Sunday, May 16, 2010, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary service, and at the church on Monday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. 
 

Frank James O’Neil was born on May 29, 1933, in St. Louis, MO, the son of Stanley and Mary (Kadlec) Zaworski.  He was raised in Berwyn, IL, received his elementary education at Our Lady of the Mount Parochial School in Cicero, IL, and graduated from Morton High School in Cicero, IL, in 1951.  Frank served in the U. S. Navy from 1951 to 1955.  He was united in marriage on November 9, 1957 to Lillian F. Pietrzak at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp. They resided in Cicero, IL and Frank drove truck for many years at International Mineral & Chemical.  He later worked for the State of Illinois in the Licensing Bureau and plowing snow on state highways.  After Frank’s retirement in 1995, they moved to Thorp.  His wife, Lillian passed away on August 19, 2005.  He continued to reside in Thorp and was united in marriage to Rosemary Joyce Hallingstad on July 20, 2007, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. 
 

He was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church, the Thorp Moose Lodge, the Thorp American Legion Post #118 and the Thorp Senior Citizens.  Frank had many interests, but especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and was very active in his church and community. 
 

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Joyce, of Thorp; two daughters: Linda O’Neil of La Grange, IL, and Kathleen (Dwayne) Alongi of Palm Harbor, FL; one son, Steve O’Neil of Strum; four stepchildren: Lori Knopf of Eau Claire, David Hallingstad of Yorktown, VA, Mark Hallingstad of Mondovi, and Michael Hallingstad (Jamie) Casey) of St. paul, MN; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Stan (Joan) Zaworski of St. Charles, IL; three sisters: Patricia (Richard) Isackson of Geneva, IL, Marianne (Chuck) Higgins of Romeoville, IL, and Karen (John) Gonsior of Cicero, IL; one brother-in-law, Ernie Brugh of Sebring, FL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 
 

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Florence Brugh.
