Hansen, Walter #2 (5 DEC 1897 - 22 JAN 1957)

 

Walter Hansen, 59, was stricken of a brain tumor and died at his home at Chippewa Falls on Jan. 22nd, 1957, at nine thirty in the evening.

 

Funeral services were conducted from the Congregational Church of this city, at two o’clock in the afternoon of Saturday, Jan. 26th.  Rev. Ralph D. Claybaugh officiated and burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.  Funeral arrangements were handled by Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home.

 

Mr. Hansen was born on Dec. 5, 1897 at Owen (Clark Co., Wis.).  He received his education in this city and later became a successful businessman.  During the time from 1919 to 1930 Mr. Hansen and Ernest Madsen operated the Motor In Garage.  He later sold his interest in the business and purchased a farm northeast of Owen and operated it until about five years ago when he was forced to sell his property due to a back injury.  After selling his farm he served four years as herdsman for the Chippewa County Asylum.  Walter served in the armed forces during World War I.  He was a member of the Congregational church and the American Legion.

 

Survivors include his wife, Catherine, a brother, James Hansen, Jr., of Minneapolis, and two sisters, Mrs. Sena Yeomans and Mrs. Lyle Haas, both of Owen.  Mrs. V. (Anna) Crise of Oak Park, Ill., preceded him in death.

 

Pallbearers were A. Rogers, William Rogers, Thomas Rogers, Eugene Hansen, Elmer Yeomans and Galen Parkinson.  Flower girls were Mrs. Agnes Nissen, Mrs. Belle Fritz, Mrs. Oscar Parkinson, Mrs. Galen Parkinson and Miss Natalie Scherf.
