Edblom, Alfred R. (September 22, 1928 - May 28, 2010)

 

Alfred R. Edblom, 81, Unity, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2010 at his home. 


Alfred Roy Edblom was born on September 22, 1928 in Unity, the son of Arthur and Alvina (Johnson) Edblom.

 

He was raised on the family farm, in the town of Colby, and received his education at Sunshine School. Alfred farmed for most of his life in the Colby/Unity area. While farming, he also worked at Land O' Lakes, in Spencer, for 16 years in shipping. Alfred retired from farming in 1985 and moved into Unity.  During his retirement, he helped his brother, Arlyn, at Edblom Carpentry, and worked for the Village of Unity for a short time.


Alfred enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Lexus, reading and garage sales.


He is survived by four children, David (Lynsie) Edblom of Colby, Rodney (Angie) Edblom of Unity, Cindy (David) Osterloh of La Mesa, Calif., Mark Edblom of San Diego, Calif.; many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Alvin Edblom of Medford; three sisters, Ethel Felker of Oshkosh, Eleanor Mellenthin of Spencer, Gail Mainard of Arizona; sisters-in-law, Florence Edblom and Zona Edblom, both of Colby; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Arnold, Arthur Jr. and Arlyn Edblom; and three sisters, Esther Egnoski, Evelyn Alexander and Eileen Safemaster.


Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity. Rev. Dale Wilford will preside and burial will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Music will be provided by Adell Stelzel, the pianist, and his niece, Carol Duvall, the soloist. Visitation will be held at the church, on Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until time of service.


Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal is assisting the family with arrangements.
