Konecny, Joseph S. (April 10, 1928 - May 19, 2010)

 

Joseph S. Konecny, 82, Marshfield, died Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at Ministry Home Care Hospice and the House of the Dove in Marshfield. 

 

Joseph was born April 10, 1928 in Marshfield. He attended Draper School and graduated from Dorchester high School in 1946. 

 

He married Dorothy Tischendorf on June 12, 1957. She preceded him in death on April 13, 1989. 

 

Joseph was a life-long farmer. Upon the death of his parents, he added their family farm with the help of his brother during which it became a Century Farm.

 

He served two years in the U.S. Army around the time of the Korean War from 1952 - 1954 and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. 

 

Upon his retirement in 1989, he moved to Marshfield to be closer to family. 

 

Joseph was a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge of Owen until 2009, and a former member of the Central Wisconsin Concertina Club from 1993 - 2007.  He made many woodworking projects, played his concertina for various events and volunteered at St. Joseph’s Hospital for 13 years as an escort, accumulating more than 9,000 hours of service. 

 

He is survived by two daughters, Linda (Duane) Brecke, Marshfield, and Sue (Glen) Roth, Unity, two sons, Daniel Konecny, Athens, and Richard Konecny, Pittsburg, PA; and ten grandchildren. 

 

He was preceded in death by a brother, George Konecny; his parents, Joseph C. Koncecny and Mayme M. Erickson; and his wife. 

 

Upon Joseph’s request, he will be cremated and no funeral services will be held. 

 

If desired, the family is accepting memorials in Joseph’s name to the House of the Dove or the Dorchester Library.
