Wenzel, Robert E. (5 AUG 1943 - 12 JUL 2010)

 

SPENCER -- Robert E. Wenzel, 66, of Spencer, died Monday, July 12, 2010, at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in the Palliative Care Unit.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010, at Rembs Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark A. Krueger officiating. Burial will be in West Spencer Cemetery in the town of Sherman, Clark County.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at the Rembs Funeral Home and again Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of the service.

He was born Aug. 5, 1943, in Spencer to Robert and Lillian (Gotz) Wenzel. He was a 1961 graduate of Spencer High School.

Bob and Sally A. Conrad were united in marriage April 30, 1979, in Marshfield.

He worked for the Kohler Company in Kohler. Robert and his brother Charles bought Spencer Bowl in 1971 and operated the bowling alley until it was destroyed by fire Sept. 6, 1995.

He then worked for Liberty Homes in Dorchester until his retirement.

Bob enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, rebuilding St. Croix fishing poles, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends. Bob was a proud grandfather of Isabella Grace Wenzel.

Bob also loved all the dogs in the family, with a special love in his heart for Maggie.

Bob is survived by his wife, Sally; children, Kristi Wenzel of Cashton, Trisha Wenzel of New Richmond and Kurt (Leslie) Wenzel of Garden City, Kan.; one granddaughter, Isabella Grace Wenzel; two brothers, Fred (Lois) Wenzel of Hawkins and Charles (Donna) Wenzel of Spencer; and one sister, Karen (Ron) Kupfer of Underwood, Minn.

He is further survived by two sisters-in-law, Sandra (Bruce) Rieth of Marshfield and Susan (Jeff) Rank of Chili; three brothers-in-law, Gerald (Ardell) Specht of Marshfield, Glen Peters of Dexterville, and Donald Griepentrog of Spencer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbur and Gordon Wenzel; one sister, Elizabeth Griepentrog; one sister-in-law, Shirley Peters; and a brother-in-law, Ronald Specht.

He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
