Lang, Opal (13 June 1900 - August 1990)

 

Spencer - Opal Lang, 90, formerly of the Withee-Unity area, died in Orange County, Calif.

 

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Spencer United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Barnes officiating.  Burial will be in the Town of Beaver Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time Sunday at the church.  Rux Funeral Home, Spencer, is handling local arrangements.

 

She was born June 13, 1900, in Bloom City, to the late William and Emma Looker. She attended Gault Hollow
School in Bloom City and Marshall School in Viola.  She was a 1916 graduate of Ridgeland Center County Teachers Normal School. She taught in several rural one-room schools and then moved to Withee.

 

She was married to Edwin Lang June 14, 1922, in Withee.  He died in March 1957.

 

She and her husband farmed in Withee and later in the Unity area until they moved to Orange County in 1955.  after the death of her husband, she continued to teach in public and Private schools in Southern California until her retirement in 1977.

 

She is survived by six sons, Donald, Bernal, Kermit, Norman and Roger, all of Southern California, and Russel of Marshfield; two daughters, Mrs. Eva Jean Hinrichs of Madison and Mrs. Nina Beland of Tucson, Ariz.; three sisters, Veda Mertens of Thorp, Nita Williams of Wichita, Kans., and Mary Matzke of Lakeland, Fla.; 31 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

 

She was also predeceased by four brothers and one sister.
