Pieper, August (23 MAY 1870 - 17 MAY 1950)

 

Funeral services for August Pieper, 79, were held at Trinity Lutheran Church here Saturday morning, May 20.  He died of embolism at his home in the town of Beaver (Clark Co., Wis.) at about 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, 1950.

 

The Rev. J. C. Langholz officiated at the services, and burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery here.  Musical numbers were rendered at the services by Mrs. Romaine Rossow and Dorothy Capelle.  Pallbearers were James Helm, Clarence Miller, Algarnon Breseman, Edward Rohloff, Art Olsen and Delmar Pier.

 

Mr. Pieper was born in Juneau on May 23, 1870.  He was a resident of Dodge County until he was 29 years old, when he came to Clark County.  He has been a farmer in the town of Beaver since.  During that period, he served for a time on the school board of his district.

 

He was married to Minnie Nagel at Hustisford on Nov. 9, 1893.  To this union were born three sons, Reinhardt, Bernhard and Arnold Pieper, all of Beaver, and two daughters, Mrs. R. F. (Alma) Gotter of Loyal and Mrs. William (Lorna) Fohrman of Beaver.  Mrs. Pieper passed away on Dec. 30, 1939.

 

Surviving, besides the five children, are two brothers, Charles Pieper of Clyman and Frank Pieper of Loyal; two sisters, Mrs. Herman Sell of Loyal and Mrs. George Kuerner of Curtiss; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

 

Those who attended the funeral from out of town included: Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Olsen and family and Mr. and Mrs. James Helm of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Herb Stueber, Mrs. Charles Pieper and Mrs. Alvin Pieper of Clyman; Mr. and Mrs. Norman Brecke and family of Abbotsford; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Walters of Oconomowoc; Mrs. Fred Hein and Robert Nagel of Neosha; Mrs. Harry Cook of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. George Kuerner of Curtiss; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Toltzman and Mr. and Mrs. William Rohloff of Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Emison of Cataract; Mr. and Mrs. Al Breseman of Granton, and Mr. and Mrs. Mavis Fohrman of Greenwood.
