Brett, David Jon (6 SEP 1946 - 26 AUG 2010)

 

UNITY -- David Jon Brett, 63, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, at his home in Unity.

 

David was born Sept. 6, 1946, on the farm of his parents, Helen and Robert Brett. He was in the National Guard. He worked for Control Data and as a freelance electronics engineer for several years in the Twin Cities area. He had a large honeybee business at one time. He went to the Dominican Republic to work on a computer-packaging program. He was an adjunct professor at the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie. He returned home to the family farm where he took over the farm.

 

David married Linda Robertson in Forest Lake, Minn. They had four children. David and Linda later divorced. In 2008, he married Ruth Rhoad, who survives him. Other survivors include David's children from his first marriage, Dana (Kelly) Brett of Hammond, Tami (Bill) Grundy of Oakdale, Minn., Robin (Ben) Chambers of Rochester, Minn., and Amanda Brett of Lindstrom, Minn.; five grandchildren; stepchildren, Marianne (Brandon) Henderson of Rochester, Minn., Sarah Rhoad of Mankato, Minn.; brother, Bob (Patty Kay) Brett of Williamsburg, Va.; and sister, Patti M. (Brett) Fuchs, Spencer.

 

Services will be at 1 p.m. Sept. 4 at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Spencer.
