Allar, Genevieve (Marriage - 17 Oct. 1959)

Miss Genevieve Allar and Frank Omelian, Jr., exchanged marriage vows before a nuptial high mass in St. Mary’s Catholic church, Saturday. The Rev. John B. Pinion witnessed the double ring ceremony at 9:30 a.m., before the high altar banked with white gladioli, yellow chrysanthemums, and autumn leaves.

Parents of the bridal couple are Mr. and Mrs. Mathias Allar of Colby and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Omelian, Sr., of Athens.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, appeared in a floor length gown of imported Chantilly lace and tulle over taffeta. The bodice featured a Queen Anne collar outlined with sequins and long sleeves. Pearls and sequins were fashioned in a tiara to hold her finger tip veil of French illusion. She carried a shower bouquet of red roses, white chrysanthemums and stephanotis.

Mrs. Andrew Kijak, the groom’s sister, of Mosinee, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Kathleen Kniess, Cyrene, Mo., and Miss Ruth Ann Frane of Curtiss, cousins of the bride. Junior bridesmaids were Miss Catherine Omelian, the groom’s sister, of Athens, and Miss Jeanette Frane, the bride’s cousin, of Colby.

The bride’s attendants wore floor length nylon lace and tulle gowns with cap sleeves, lace bodice and bouffant skirt. All the attendants wore matching hats with open crown and lace veils.

Blue was chosen for the maid of honor, pink for the bridesmaids, and white, with scattered rhinestones for the junior bridesmaids. Sequins outlined the hems of their dresses and the veils.

White and yellow chrysanthemums, tied with pink ribbon, made up the bouquet which Mrs. Kijak carried. Blue ribbons were used on similar bouquets for the bridesmaids; bouquets identical to the bride’s were carried by the junior bridesmaids.

Andrew Kijak was best man; Dennis Frane of Colby and Steve Toboyek of Mosinee were groomsmen. Eugene Teresinski and Donald Frane of Colby performed the ushering duties.

The mothers of the bride and groom chose navy blue dresses with white accessories. Red and pink roses and white carnations were combined in their corsages.

Mrs. A. M. Gabriel was organist for the adult choir which sang during the mass. Mrs. Gabriel also sang "Ave Maria" at the offertory.

Mass servers were Michael and Gary Cook, neighbors of the bride, and two cousins of the groom of Mosinee.

Breakfast and supper were served at St. Mary’s gymnasium and a reception, attended by about 300 guests, was held in the afternoon at the home of the bride’s parents. In the evening, a wedding dance was held at the Trianon ball room.

When Mr. and Mrs. Omelian, Jr., return from a wedding trip to Chicago, and Indiana, they will live on the farm of the groom’s parents, Route 3, Athens. Before her marriage, the bride was a telephone operator at the Central Telephone Company office at Colby.
