Laper, Mary Jeanette (11 Aug. 1878 - 15 July 1960)

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Ernest Laper, 81, who died at her home Friday morning, were held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Christ Lutheran Church. The Rev. F. H. Sprengler officiated at the services during which Miss Dorothy Kieser and Mrs. Waldon Brown sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," and "Abide With Me."

 

Internment was made in the Abbotsford cemetery. Pallbearers were Frank Bernitt, G. G. Kieser, Harry Olson, Carl Ploekelman, Richard Schade and Nick Wibben.

 

The former Mary Jeanette Nagel was born at Racine Aug. 11, 1878 and was married there to Ernest Laper on Aug. 13, 1896. Shortly after their marriage, they began farming in Taylor county and came from Stetsonville to Abbotsford 19 years ago.

 

Mrs. Laper had been in ailing health the past four years.

 

Surviving are her husband and several grand children; a sister, Mrs. Jeanette Jenkens of Racine; a half sister, Mrs. Mary Schatz, of Kenosha, and a half brother, William Hemple, of Milwaukee.

 

Three sisters and one brother preceded her in death.

 

The death of an only son, Floyd, occurred July 8, in a shooting accident at Unity.
