Leffel, Herman G. (30 Oct. 1886 - 8 Sept. 1960)

 

Funeral services for Herman G. Leffel, 73, who died Thursday afternoon at Wentworth where he was visiting his son, Charles, were held Monday. The body lay in state at the Polnaszek Funeral Home until 11 o’clock when it was taken to Unity where the Rev. Robert Langseth officiated at services at Trinity Lutheran church at 1:15. He was a member of the church. Internment was made in the March Rapids cemetery.

 

During the services at the church, the choir sang "Nearer My God to Thee," and "Beyond the Sunset."

 

Pallbearers were Dennis Leffel of Medford, Orville Leffel of Niagara, Myron Leffel of Marshfield, Harold Ewert of Wausau, all nephews; Karl Willecke and Tony Korntved of Unity, friends.

 

The flowers were carried by six grand daughters and two great grand daughers: Misses Carol Bezak of Abbotsford; Marcia and Merna Leffel of Wentworth; Annie Leffel of Maple and Rita Ann and Sandrea Golimowski of Milwaukee and Linda and Elsie Walley of Eau Claire.

 

Herman Gustave Leffel was born Oct. 30, 1886, in Germany, and at the age of two and one-half years, came to America with his parents, who settled in the town of Eau Pleine.

 

He was married to the former Anna Ewert, April 6, 1910. She died in May, 1927.

 

His second marriage was to Mrs. Mary De May, Sheboygan, in 1929. After her death six years ago, he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Steve Bezak, Abbotsford.

 

Mr. Leffel farmed at March Rapids, operated a hardware store at Unity and was an insurance salesman with the Wisconsin Life Insurance Co., at Unity, and district manager at Sheboygan.

 

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Steve (Elsie) Bezak, Abbotsford, and Mrs. Ray (Beatrice) Golimowski, Milwaukee; three sons, Melvin, Milwaukee; Charles, Wentworth, and Norman, Maple; two brothers, Albert, Medford and Ernest, Marshfield; and one sister, Mrs. Albert (Lillian) Ewert, Wausau. There are five grand children and five great grand children.
