Haslow, Dorothy J. (23 JUN 1951)

Trinity Lutheran Church was the setting for the marriage of Miss Dorothy Jane Haslow, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Haslow, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), and Gerald Schwantes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Schwantes, Spencer, which was performed Saturday afternoon, June 23, 1951.  The Rev. Elmer Aalto officiated at the 2 o’clock ceremony.

Rose point lace featured the tight fitting bodice of the heavy white satin gown selected by the bride.  The lace was repeated on the long train and the fingertip veil of French illusion which fell from a tiara embroidered with seed pearls and rhinestones.  Red and white roses composed her cascade bouquet.

Miss Eileen Bredlau, Neillsville, cousin of the bride, in yellow, as maid of honor, and Misses Betty Pockrandt, Loyal, another cousin, in green, and Eleanor Frank, Stratford, in orchid, as bridesmaids, composed the bridal attendants.  They wore matching lace picture hats and mitts with their ninon over taffeta gowns and carried bouquets of carnations.

Roger Schwantes, Spencer, was best man for his brother, and Kenneth Schwantes, a cousin of the groom, and Harvey Haslow, a brother of the bride, both of Loyal, were groomsmen.

Ushers included Verlyn Pockrandt, Loyal, cousin of the bride, and Franklin Luepke, Spencer, cousin of the groom.

Yellow organdy frocks with matching headbands were worn by the two flower girls, Ellen Haslow, Loyal, cousin of the bride, and Judy Oelrich, Unity, niece of the groom.  They carried bouquets of pink carnations.

A niece of the groom, Barbara Struck, Marshfield, attired in a white organdy dress, carried the rings on a white satin heart shaped pillow.

Mrs. Haslow was attired in a gray flower bemberg dress and the groom’s mother chose a blue flowered dress.  Each wore white accessories and a corsage of pink and white carnations.

The newlyweds greeted guests at a 7 o’clock reception, after which they departed on a honeymoon in northern Wisconsin.  Upon their return they will reside temporarily with the groom’s parents on their farm near Spencer.

Out of town guests at the wedding were from West Bend, Red Granite, Unity, Spencer, Marshfield, Neillsville and Stratford.
