Warren Davis, 85, of Granton, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

Warren Eldon Davis was born Dec. 10, 1924, in Granton, the son of Truman and Myrtie (Peaslee) Davis.  He attended the Romadka Grade School and Granton High School.  From high school he was drafted into the United States Army and served from 1944 to 1946.  Warren was a World War II veteran stationed in Korea and the Philippines.  He returned home from the war with malaria.  Eventually, Warren recovered and went to work for Weinbrenner Shoe Factory in Marshfield and worked there for over 35 years before retiring.

He was a member of the York Center United Methodist Church in Granton.

Warren and his sister, Shirley, have lived in the same house on CTH H since 1956 when they moved there with their mother from the farm on Romadka Avenue.  He enjoyed fiddling with cars, when his mother would let him, and every Sunday you could find Warren and Shirley at the York Center United Methodist Church preparing for Sunday service and handing out bulletins.

He is survived by a brother, Marvin (Mable) Davis of Plato, MO; four sisters, Angeline (Robert) Schultz of Greenwood, Shirley Davis of Granton, Patricia (Bernard) Kitzhaber of Greenwood and Ila Mae (William) Wolf of Nekoosa, along with several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Warren were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010 at the York Center United Methodist Church, with visitation from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.  Pastor Michael Herdt officiated.  Music was provided by Lori Rowe, organist.  Interment was in the York Center Cemetery, with military honors accorded by the Neillsville Veterans Council.
