Beilfuss, Walter F. (8 APR 1881 - 5 MAY 1956)

Walter F. Beilfuss, 75, father of Circuit Court Judge Bruce F. Beilfuss, a teller at the Neillsville First National Bank, and a former Thorp and Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) businessman, died at 6 o’clock Saturday night at Neillsville Memorial Hospital after being ill for some time.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Frank B. Harcey at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at the First Congregational Church.

Mr. Beilfuss was born April 8, 1881 at Reed City, Mich., and moved to Clark County with his family at an early age.  He was educated in the county’s schools, clerked in a general merchandise store at Thorp and later operated his own general store in Withee.  He served as assessor of the village of Withee for 17 years.

He disposed of his Withee business and moved to Neillsville in 1928.  Since then he had been employed at the First National Bank at Neillsville.

He was married Aug. 15, 1910 to Elsie Dodte, who survives him.  Other survivors besides Judge Beilfuss are a daughter, Mrs. William (Bonnie) Miller, Oak Park, Ill., and three grandchildren.  One son and two brothers preceded him in death.
