Humbird (13 August 1959)

 

Mrs. Gladys Losey, Mrs. Iola Lepley and Mrs. Chester Baily called on Mrs. Alice Johnson in Memorial Hospital at Neillsville last week.  They found her able to sit up.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Ronald DeLong and family of Owen spent Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl DeLong.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Pierce and little girl of Two Rivers visited his mother, Mrs. Russell O’Leary, last week.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Dave Baily of Rockford, Ill., called on Mr. and Mrs. Chester Baily last week on their way to upper Michigan and Canada.  Mr. Baily is the son of George Baily, who lived here several years ago.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Zerbel and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Zerbel visited their sister and daughter, Mrs. John (Doris) Kleckner, in Stevens Point, Sunday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Charley Bollom of Neillsville visited Friday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Chet Baily.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Keith Kirby and children came Saturday to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Kirby.  Keith is with the air force and has been stationed in Germany.  They will also visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Larson, Wisconsin Rapids.  Mr. and Mrs. Bud Walker and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Senske of St. Paul came down for the weekend.

 

Mrs. David Ridgeway and Mrs. Carter of Wilmette, Ill., called Thursday at the Park Sample home.

 

Mrs. Merle Gilbertson of Winneconne and Mrs. Fred Balliet of Augusta spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Park Sample.

 

Mrs. Keith Johnson of Merrillan called on her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Janke, last weekend.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe and Mrs. Clouse were dinner and supper guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Orrin Wold in rural Black River Falls.  Mr. and Mrs. Ben Clouse and Frank Clouse of Loyal also were dinner guests there.

 

Mrs. Mary Iffland of New London called on Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe and Mr. and Mrs. Louie Laffe Friday.

 

Word has been received that Charlie Hart has been moved from a Fairchild nursing home to Memorial Hospital at Neillsville.  He remains in about the same condition.  His brother, Harry, was there Sunday forenoon to see him.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Dale Hardwick of Fargo, N. D., were weekend guests of his mother, Mrs. Karl Johnson.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Alton Stallard of Eau Claire visited with his mother, Mrs. C. W. Hart, Sunday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. George Mueller were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Duerkop Sunday.

 

Mrs., Gordon Gearing attended a pink and blue shower at the home of Mrs. Don Peasley, rural Black River Falls, in honor of Mrs. Vernon Gjerseth, Thursday afternoon.  Others from here attending were Mrs. Hugh Terrell and mother, Mrs. Larson.

 

Miss Shirley Morgan is enjoying a week’s vacation from her work in Minneapolis.
