Friske, Bernard (1941 - 2010)

 

Bernard K. Friske, 69. Greenwood, died on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, at House of Dove, Marshfield. A gathering was held at 1 p.m., on Sunday, Oct. 10, at his residence, and was followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m., in the Greenwood City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Marty Nigon, Dale Lindner, John Lindner, Donnie Rowley, Maynard Bowe, Mark Gregorich, Brandon Nigon and Doug Denk.

 

Bernard Kent Friske was born on March 1, 1941, in Greenwood, the son of Norbert and Adelia (nee Wells) Friske. He was raised on the family farm and received hid education in Greenwood, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1959. He farmed his entire life in the town of Eaton. He enjoyed traveling and took many trips to Montana during the summer, to see the mountains. He also traveled to Egypt and saw the pyramids on the back of a camel. He was a charter member of the Greenwood FFA Alumni, was instrumental in starting the Greenwood Satelilites $-H Club, and was a member of the Holstein Association and the Greenwood Saddle Club. He had a passion for animals, especially horses and his registered Holstein, Majestic Elms Amy. He had many interests, but especially enjoyed reading, trail riding, snowmobiling, 3-wheeling, bowling, playing cards and hanging around younger people.

 

He will be dearly missed by two aunts, Marguerite Friske, Whitehall, and Kathryn Wells, Greenwood and many special friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.
