Abel, Harold "Bud" (19 MAY 1932 - 17 OCT 2010)

 

Harold "Bud" Abel, 78, Marengo, ill., died on Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at Homebridge Center in Belvidere, Ill. Funeral services were held at Marengo United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Marengo City Cemetery.

 

Harold Abel was born on May 1932, in Neillsville, to Otto and Grace (nee Herr) Abel. He married Lois Shisler on July 7, 1956. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 - 1954 during the Korean War. He was a member of the Harvard Sportsman Club and a lifetime member of the Harvard Moose Lodge. He worked at Arnold Engineering for many years. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed of fishing and hunting.

 

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Patty Abel, Capron, Ill.; two grandchildren, Nathan and Natalie Abel, Capron, two brothers, Lloyd (Dawn) Abel, Brussels, and Frank (Abigail) Abel, La Puente, Calif.; two sisters, Joan (Harry) Bujanowski, Wisconsin Rapids, and Donna (Gerald) Peters, Rudolph; his special friends, Jerry and Edie Darling, Marengo; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Preceding him in death were his wife, Lois; his son, Otto Abel, a brother, Albert Abel, and a sister, Yvonne Rondorf.

 

Memorials may be made to the Marengo United Methodist Church.

 

Marengo-Union Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
