Washburn Township (26 May 1960)

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Bill Opelt at Memorial Hospital Sunday night.  Mrs. Opelt was Janice Hanson before her marriage. This is the first grandchild of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hanson.

There are several cases of German measles among the pupils of Washburn School.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kalsow entertained Mr. and Mrs. George Allbaugh, Mrs. Gus Kalsow, Mrs. Ed Short and Jess Wilding at dinner Sunday in honor of the second birthday of their son, Wayne.

Mr. and Mrs. Art Short entertained Mr. and Mrs. Martin Krause, Granton, Mr. and Mrs. Newt Toptine, Neillsville, and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Short Thursday evening in honor of Art Short’s birthday.

Mrs. George Allbaugh will entertain the Washburn Homemakers club Wednesday.  Dinner will be served at noon.  Mrs. Elmer Kapfer and Mrs. Arnold Huth, Jr., will present the project on "Outdoor Cookery."

Mr. and Mrs. Ted Kissling spent the weekend in Milwaukee visiting her sister, Mrs. Arnold Klauer and Mrs. Floyd Moon, and their families.  They also attended the confirmation of their nephew, Arthur Klauer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Klauer.

Mr. and Mrs. John Reinart and family and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Dahnert drove to Hokah, Minn., Sunday, where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Don Feuerhelm and family.

Mrs. Ernest Kissling entertained several ladies at a party Thursday night.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ehlers spent Sunday evening at the Paul Schultz home.

Miss Vera Lincoln, who works in Elgin, Ill., spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lincoln.

Mrs. Ed Short spent from Monday until Friday with her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kuhn.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Short and sons and Mrs. George Koetritz, Milwaukee, spent Sunday evening at the Mrs. Frank Short home.  Mrs. Koetritz is an aunt of Mrs. Kenneth Short and is spending a few days there.
