Loew, Elmer Bauer (30 April 1912 - 16 November 2010) With flag

 

Elmer B. Loew, age 98, of Thorp, WI, formerly of Peoria, AZ, passed away at The Home Place, in Stanley, WI, on Tuesday, November 16, 2010.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.  Interment of cremains will take place at Blendon Central Cemetery, in Westerville, OH, at a later date.

 

Elmer Bauer Loew was born on April 30, 1912, in Columbus, OH, the son of William and Wilhelmina (Bauer) Loew.  He was united in marriage to Margaret Wentz.  Elmer enlisted into the U. S. Navy Air Corp in July 1942 in Pensacola, FL, and served until his discharge in December 1945. Elmer worked in Columbus, OH and was employed at Columbus Auto Parts as a supervisor in Quality Control from 1950 until retiring in 1974. After retiring, Elmer moved to Peoria, AZ, where he was very involved in his church, being active on the church council and in the choir, and in local politics.  His wife, Margaret, passed away on January 10, 1985. Elmer was united in marriage to Lorena Lenz on September 21, 1985 in Thorp, WI.  They resided in Arizona.  Lorena passed away in 2001.  Elmer moved to Thorp, WI in March 2008 to be close to family.  He will be remembered by his family and friends for his Happy Birthday "Singing Telegrams." 

 

He is survived by his step-daughter: Lois (Ed) Mathison of Thorp; his grandchildren: Timothy Loew and Kimberly Loew; four step-grandchildren: Cindy Streckert, Tricia (Rance) Greene, Brent (Venetta) Mathison, and Bradley (Angela) Mathison; 11 step-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Margaret and Lorena; one son, Stephen Loew, on July 1, 1998; and three brothers: Arthur, Ralph, and Erwin Loew.

 

Thorp Funeral Home, of Thorp, WI, is assisting the family with arrangements.
