Stiwitz, Margaret (4 MAY 1957)

Pictured here (No picture available) are SPC2 David E. Sniegowski, serving with the U.S. Army in Germany, and his bride, the former Margaret Stiwitz of Soberheim, Germany.

Because many European countries (Germany being one of them) require a civil ceremony, the couple presented themselves to the Standesamdt at 8:30 a.m. on May 4th, 1957, with Margaret’s brother, Hans, and brother-in-law, Ralph Hansen, as witnesses.

They then went to St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Soberheim where Rev. V. Schotten joined them in holy matrimony.  Attending the couple at the church ceremony were David’s brother, SP3c Frank J. Sniegowski, who is also stationed in Germany, and his friend Pfc. Bill Haley.

For her wedding Margaret chose a white ballerina length gown of net over taffeta and a flocked fingertip veil with a Juliet cap.  She carried a cascade style bouquet of white carnations.  The groom and attendants wore their army uniforms.

A reception was held at the home of Mrs. Karl Stiwitz, the bride’s mother, with members of the bride’s family, the attendants and a few close friends present.

The couple now resides in Bad Krusnach, Germany, where the groom is stationed.  Upon their arrival in the States in September, they will make their temporary home with David’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edw. Sniegowski, formerly of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), now of Mosinee, Wis.  David is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Sniegowski of Thorp.
