Giwojna, Joseph (25 NOV 1875 - 11 OCT 1957)

 

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Francis Piekarski at St. Hedwig’s Chapel in the city on Monday morning, for Joseph Giwojna, 81 years of age, who passed away at Owen on Oct. 11th, 1957 of old age infirmities.

 

Mr. Giwojna, who was born in Lithuania Nov. 25, 1875, came to the United States in the year 1900 and has been a resident of this community (Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.) for 57 years.

 

He was united in marriage to Minnie Rembleski at St. Hedwig’s Church here on Feb. 9, 1904, she having preceded him in death several years ago.

 

He is survived by four sons, John, Raymond, Frank and Edward, all of Thorp; four daughters, Eva Swiental, South Bend, Ind., Francis Wheeler, St. Paul, Stella Swifka, Whittier, Calif., and Victoria Fasnacht of Gilman, Wis.

 

He was laid to rest in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Louis Papierniak, John Zdrojkowski, John Stroinski, Anton Norysiewicz, Frank Kroll and Leon Marek.
