Olson, Lewis N. (25 October 1884 - 24 October 1960)

Lewis N. Olson died October 24, the day before his 76th birthday, at his home near Hillsboro.  He was a brother-in-law of Mrs. Ralph Short of Shortville, and a former resident of that area.

He had been in failing health for 12 years, and the last three years had been completely helpless.  He had been in a critical condition for several weeks.

He was born to Mr. and Mrs. Nels Olson in Greenwood Township October 25, 1884.  He was united in marriage to Laura Kegley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kegley, also of Greenwood Township, November 2, 1915.  To this union one son, Russel was born.

He spent his entire life in Greenwood Township, with the exception of four years they spent at Neillsville, near Shortville, moving there in 1917 and returning to Hillsboro in 1921.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Greenwood Lutheran Church and was a lifetime member and served as a trustee for many years.

Besides his wife, Laura, he is survived by his son, Russel; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Herbert (Minnie) Shreve, Hillsboro, and Miss Nora Olson, Madison; and two brothers, Carl of Madison and Theodore of Viroqua.

Funeral services were held at the Greenwood Lutheran Church last Thursday afternoon. Burial was made in the church cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Short were called to Hillsboro Wednesday by the death of her brother-in-law, Lewis Olson, and attended the funeral last Thursday.  Mr. and Mrs. Art Short, Granton, attended the funeral also.
