Kangas, Jane A. #2 (29 NOV 1971 - 22 NOV 2010)

Jane A. Kangas, 38, of Vesper, formerly of Greenwood, passed away at Riverview Hospital, Wisconsin Rapids, on Monday, Nov. 22, 2010.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Nov. 27, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, in Greenwood, with the Rev. Al Moen officiating. Pallbearers will be Joel Kangas, Kevin Schmidtke, Dave Peterson, Roger Peterson, Ben Laws, Will Housley and Brian Preston. Burial will be held in Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, in Longwood, at a later date.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the church.

Jane Anne Kangas was born Nov. 29, 1971, in Brookfield, the daughter of Walter and Shirley (Niemi) Kangas. She was raised and received her education in Greenwood, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1990. After high school, Jane attended UW-Stout, graduating in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Architecture Design. She was employed from 1999 until January 2010 as a professor at UW-Stevens Point, where she taught Interior Architecture. Jane was then a stay-at-home mother, raising her daughters, did freelance art work, and was a substitute teacher for the Pittsville School District this fall. She also recently completed her Masters of Fine Arts in Illustration from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

Jane had many interests, but especially loved being with her family and friends, creative art, her BMW, and was very involved with the American Cancer Society and its Relay For Life.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Plover.

Jane will be dearly missed by her husband, Paul Peterson of Vesper; her three daughters, Sarah, Erika and Anna Peterson, all at home; her parents, Walter and Shirley Kangas of Owen; one brother, Joel Kangas of Owen; two sisters, Laura Kangas of Marshfield and Karen Preston-Kangas (Brian Preston) of East Lansing, Mich.; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given in Jane's name for a memorial to be established at a later date. Cuddie Funeral Home, of Greenwood, is assisting the family with arrangements.
