Jalowitz, Al J. (16 May 1930 - 26 December 2010)

 

Al J. Jalowitz, age 80, of Withee, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2010, at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.  His funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 29, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen at 11:00 a.m. with Father S. Nathan officiating.  Burial followed in the Riverside Cemetery in the Town of Hixon. Visitation was held at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

 

Pallbearers were Jon Dircks, Randy Fredrickson, Dennis Flease, Branden Bodendorfer, Jim Oehler and Nick Carroll.

 

Al was born May 16, 1930, in Chicago, IL to George and Bernice (Kara) Jalowitz.  On June 8, 1952, he was united in marriage to Margaret Swiontek at the Old Saint Hedwig’s Church in Thorp.  Together they bought a farm in the Town of Hixon in 1956 and continued to operate it for 25 years. After farming he was the chief of police for the city of Owen retiring in 1994.

 

Al is survived by his wife, Margaret, of Withee; children: Ken (Pam) Jalowitz of Withee, John (Lisa) Jalowitz of Medford, Jim Jalowitz of Thorp, Brian (Lori) Jalowitz of Medford; grandchildren: Heather, Makayla, Jackson, Janae, and Noah; sisters: Del (Gen) Gustafson and Joan (Roger) Deutschlander. Al was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Al enjoyed visiting with family and friends, deer hunting, camping, and cutting wood.  He took pride in his home and yard.
