Nelson, Leon (11 April 1917 - 15 January 1954)

 

Leon Nelson, 36, died at 1 a.m. Friday, Jan. 15, of a heart ailment at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where he had been a patient for two weeks.

 

Mr. Nelson was born April 11, 1917 at Loyal, and was a life-long resident of this vicinity.  He attended Maple Center and Beaver Center rural schools and in 1934 graduated from the Loyal High School.  He was a graduate of Diesel Engineering School in Chicago and later took up electrical wiring. He was married June 18, 1952 to Lydia Schmidt. 

 

He was a member of the Methodist Church and funeral services were held there Monday at 2 p.m.  The Rev. W. M. Mecklenburg officiated.  The hymns "In the Garden" and Rock of Ages" were sung by Mrs. Calvin Prior and Mrs. G. W. Nelson with Mrs. Byron Zepplin as organist.

 

Pallbearers were John Kern, Hugh Seefeldt, Vernon Casper, Leo Kozik, Norman Augestine, and Jim Hollowell.

 

He is survived by his wife, one son, Allen, and his father, Frederick Nelson.  He mother died three weeks ago.
