Melvin, Delores Ann (12 AUG 1961)

Miss Delores Ann Melvin and Duane D. Umlauft exchanged marriage vows Saturday morning, Aug. 12, 1961, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.  The Rev. Raymond P. Schulz officiated at the double ring ceremony at 10 o’clock, followed by a nuptial high mass.

Parents of the bridal couple are Mr. and Mrs. Archie Melvin of Abbotsford and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Umlauft of Stetsonville.

The bride wore a floor length gown of bow knot lace over net and taffeta.  Pearls edged the neckline of the fitted bodice which was softly scooped in the front and had a V at the back.  The long sleeves tapered to a point at the wrist.  The very full skirt was accented at the side with three tiny taffeta bows trimmed with pearls.  A crown of pearls and aurora borealis crystals held her fingertip veil.  She carried a cascade bouquet of red and white roses.

Attending the couple were Mr. and Mrs. Warren German, Owen, cousins of the bride, Miss Sharol Nikolay, Abbotsford, and Gerald Gunnering, Dorchester, friend of the groom, and Miss Hazel Weideman, Abbotsford, and Ronald Oehler, Antigo, cousins of the bride and groom.

Ushers were Donald Melvin, Abbotsford, brother of the bride, and Laverne Oehler, Milwaukee, cousin of the groom.

The bride’s attendants were dressed in frocks made alike in white lace over pastel colored taffeta.  The street length dresses were designed with a modified scoop neckline and brief sleevs.  A bias band of pastel taffeta with a bow at the front and ending in a bow and streamers at the back accented the fitted bodices and a similar band with a bow at the front detailed the full skirt.  Short circular veils matching gloves their gown were caught to nylon braid crowns studded with aurora borealis crystals.   They wore white gloves and carried cascade bouquets of white and tinted carnations to correspond with the color of their dresses.  The bride presented her attendants with aurora borealis crystal jewelry, which they wore with their ensembles.

Mrs. German wore mint green, Miss Nikolay, light blue, Miss Umlauft, Lilac, Miss Gasch, pink, and Miss Weideman, maize.

The bride’s mother was attired in a blue sheath dress of embroidered silk organza over taffeta with white accessories.  Dusty pink was chosen by the groom’s mother.  Both had corsages of pink roses and feathered yellow carnations.

Mrs. Ethel Kleitner, Wausau, the bride’s grandmother, wore an orchid chiffon dress and Mrs. Herman Kloth, Abbotsford, chose a black lace dress, and Mrs. Anna Umlauft, Dorchester, grandmothers of the groom, chose a blue dress.

Corsages of pink and white carnations were worn by the grandmothers.

Following the ceremony, dinner for the immediate families was served at the home of the bride’s parents.  A reception was held at Cherokee Hall in the afternoon, and supper for about 175 guests was served at the high school gymnasium.

Guests came from Colby, Wausau, Marathon City, Dorchester, Stetsonville, Medford, Owen, Curtiss, Antigo, Black River Falls, Kennan, Abbotsford, Milwaukee and Chicago.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Umlauft will make their home in Dorchester where the groom is employed at Midland Cooperative.  The bride, a graduate of the Abbotsford High School, class of 1961, has been employed as a secretary for the General Telephone Co. of Wisconsin at Wausau.
