Furman, Elmer Ray (28 December 1884 - 8 September 1954)

 

Elmer Ray Furman, 69, died of a heart attack about 9:30 Wednesday evening at his home in the Town of Loyal one mile south of the city. Death followed an illness of a few hours.

 

Mr. Furman was born Dec. 28, 1884, in Cherokee, Iowa, and received his education there.  At the age of 17 years he moved to Plankington, South Dakota, and there on Dec. 22, 1915 he was married to Josie Stekel.

 

In 1925 Mr. and Mrs. Furman move to Chetek and in 1929 to New Auburn where they lived for 18 years.  In 1947 they moved to their present farm home near Loyal.

 

Mr. Furman is survived by his wife, a son, Orlo L. Furman, at home, a daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Doris) Peuse, Fall Creek, and two grandchildren, Kathy and Judy Furman who live in the state of Oregon.

 

A son Raymond, died in 1949 and a sister also preceded him in death.

 

Funeral services wee held at the Myre Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Saturday and burial was in the Loyal Cemetery. The Rev. W. M. Mecklenburg of the Methodist Church officiated at the services.  Mrs. Byron Zepplin was organist and Mrs. W. M. Mecklenburg sang "Oh God Our Help, In Ages Past, and My God and I."

 

Pallbearers were: Harvey Brussow, Ralph Rayhorn, Fred Cox, Sr., John A. Olsen, George Rowley, and Leo Degenhardt.

 

Those attending the funeral from away were: Mr. and Mrs. Relph Peuse, Harvey Peuse, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Peuse, and Mrs. Milton Strasburg, Fall Creek; Mr. and Mrs. Waldemar Fisher, Eau Claire; Constance Olson, Clarence Carlson, and Arthur Carlson, New Auburn; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Copper, St. Paul, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Knopps and John Bien, Menominee; and Mr. and Mrs. Palmer Vinger and Mr. and Mrs. Emil Fabian, Greenwood.
