Nehrlich, Janice E. (2 SEP 1961)

Miss Janice E. Nehrlich and John W. Rutan exchanged marriage vows Saturday afternoon at the First Presbyterian Church at Abbotsford.  The Rev. Wallace Smith of Edgar read the double ring service before the altar which was adorned with bouquets of gladioli, at 3 o’clock.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Nehrlich Jr., rural Dorchester, and Mrs. Robert Baxter of rural Dorchester, and George Rutan of Cedar Rapids, Ia.

During the ceremony, Miss Joan Pautz sang "O Perfect Love: and "The Lord’s Prayer."  Miss Jackie Scheel was organist and accompanist.

For her wedding, the bride chose a white lace over satin dress, designed with a scalloped neckline, long sleeves and ballerina length skirt.  Her fingertip veil was secured to an arrangement of orange blossoms used by her paternal grandmother 42 years ago.  She carried a bouquet of red roses and white pompons.  Mr. Nehrlich gave his daughter in marriage.

The bride’s sister, Mrs. Jerald Wojner, was matron of honor.  Two sisters of the groom were bridesmaids: Mrs. Harry Weiss and Miss Lorraine Baxter.

The matron of honor wore a street length dress of coral nylon over coral taffeta, while the bridesmaids were attired in coral nylon over white taffeta.  They carried bouquets of coral and white pompons.

Miss Cindy Ellenbecker served as a miniature bride and wore a gown designed like that of the bride, and carried a miniature bouquet of red roses and white pompons.

Attending the groom were Jerald Wojner as best man, Ralph Baxter, a cousin and the groom, and James Nehrlich, brother of the bride, as ushers, and Tom Nehrlich, another brother, as ring bearer.

A reception at the village hall followed the ceremony, and supper was served to about 125 guests at the church.  The new Mr. and Mrs. Rutan greeted more friends at a wedding dance at Memorial Hall at Dorchester.

They left on a wedding trip to Copper Falls and Crystal Cave.  They are now making their home in Abbotsford, in the George Greaser apartment on Third Street.

Among the guests from away at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. John Hemminger and Mr. and Mrs. Don Thorne and family of Owen, Mrs. I. W. Nehrlich Sr. of Chicago, Mrs. Nora Arpan and Miss Bonnie Nehrlich of Evanston, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. George Rutan of Cedar Rapids, Ia., and Mr. and Mrs. Mel Bender and family of Mosinee.
