Cronin, Jay E. (7 January 1894 - 12 March 1961)

 

Jay E. Cronin, 67, of Minneapolis, Minn., former Greenwood resident, died March 12, at Fort Snelling, Minn. Veterans Hospital, where he had been a patient for six weeks.  Funeral services were held March 15.  The Rev. M. B. Tollesrud officiated.  Burial was made in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

 

Those from Greenwood who attended were: Mrs. Henry Goettsch, Mrs. Phillip Vollrath and son, and Mrs. Jerome Larson and: Other relatives attending were: William Cronin and Mrs. Owen Williams of Glendive, Mont., Mr. and Mrs. James Cronin of Rock Falls, Ill., and Floyd Cronin of Rockford, Ill.

 

Mr. Cronin was born January 7, 1894, in Wabasha, Minn.  He came to Greenwood with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Cronin, in 1898, and attended grade and high school here.  He enlisted in the army in 1917 and served in England, France and Germany.  He received his discharge in May 1919.  He had resided for several years in Minneapolis.

 

He is survived by his wife, the former Levina Moberg of Greenwood; a daughter, Mrs. Joe (Carol) Cowell of Menasha; a son, Patrick, at home; three brothers; Floyd of Rockford, Ill., William of Glendive, Mont., and James of Rock Falls, Ill.; five sisters; Mrs. Owen (Margaret) Williams of Glendive, Mont., Mrs. P. H. (Gertrude) McCann of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Henry (Esther) Goettsch, Mrs. Martin (Rosella) Zickert and Mrs. Phillip (Anna) Vollrath, all of Greenwood.
