Lyon, Lillie  (03 OCT 1853-11 MAR 1953)

 

Mrs. Lillie Lyon, 85, died at the home of her son, Clair Lyon, ay 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, 1953.

 

Mrs. Lyon, the former Lillie Shaver, was born in the town of Holland, Sheboygan County, October 3, 1867. When 15 years, she came to Clark County with her parents to make their home on a farm near Loyal, and lived in this vicinity until the time of her death.

 

She was married to William Lyon in Loyal, April 24, 1887. She was one of the few remaining pioneers who saw this area develop from tree-covered miles to the wonderful farming lands of today. The school in the district where she lived for so many years is still called the "Lyon School", having once been a part of the Lyon’s farm.

 

Mrs. Lyon is survived by two sons, Clair of Loyal and Lafayette of La Crosse, and one daughter, Echo of Loyal, six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

 

Her husband died in 1933 and a son, Rollie, died in 1934.

 

She was a member of the W. S. C. S. of the Methodist Church, the Birthday Circle and the American Legion Auxiliary.

 

Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock with the Rev. Virgil Nulton of Neillsville officiating.

 

James R. Colby sang, "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and "Jesus Savior Pilot Me." And Mrs. Byron Zepplin was the organist.

 

Pallbearers were August Witt, Frank Kline, Herbert White, Ray Prior, V. O. Kauffman, and Frank Coryell.

 

Those from away who came to attend the funeral services were: Mr. and Mrs. Lafayette Lyon, La Crosse; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kindt, Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Stenulson and family, Black River Falls; Eugene Lyon, Sun Prairie; Mrs. Adele Zuege, Jud Lyon and Mrs. Robert Harvey, Neillsville; Mrs. Claude Castner and Mrs. Reginald Behrens, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Lacey Philpott, Draper; and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Phillips, Marshfield.
