Gray, Ella (12 MAR 1876 - 5 FEB 1955)

 

Mrs. Walter Gray, 78, died at her home in Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.) at 7:20 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 1955.  She had not been well for several years, and on Dec. 21 she fell in her home and broke her hip.  She was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where she remained until Sunday, Jan. 23, when she came home.

 

Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church Tuesday at 2 p.m. and burial was in the Loyal Cemetery.  The Rev. W. M. Mecklenburg officiated at the services.  Mrs. Gray was a member of the Methodist Church and of the Iris Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.

 

Mrs. Gray, nee Ella Halverson, was born in Vernon County, Wis., March 12, 1876.  March 21, 1897 she was married to Walter Gray in Vernon County.  In 1920 they moved to a farm northwest of Greenwood where they lived until 1926, when they moved to their present home in Loyal.

 

She is survived by her husband, two sons, Alfred of Loyal and Rodger of Reedstown; and three daughters, Mrs. Art (Mabel) Reineking of Rio, Mrs. Kenneth (Edith) Stafford, Winneconne, and Mrs. Mable Parish, Tomah.  She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

 

A daughter, Mrs. Howard Sturtz Sr., preceded her in death, as did six brothers and six sisters.
