Withee, Wisconsin (27 April 1961)

 

Nancy Williams, 15-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Williams of Withee, sustained painful injuries to an eye and two broken ribs while playing basketball with her team last week.  Nancy is a sophomore in the Owen-Withee School.

 

The fourth production of the Owen-Withee drama club was given Friday afternoon and evening.  "Little Women," all-time favorite, was presented under the direction of Mrs. Donna Wall by an all-girl cast.  Withee girls in the cast were Janet Karrow and Charlotte Engel.

 

The next Parent-Teachers meeting will be tonight (Thursday) at the Withee Junior High and will feature a "Hobby Show".

 

A shower was given for Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Dickinson, who were recently married in Milwaukee. They visited at the Levi Dickinson home.

 

Miss Caroline Miller of Oregon is visiting relatives in the vicinity.

 

The young people of Nazareth Lutheran Church observed youth Sunday recently and put on a play entitled, "The Pastor’s New Car," under the direction of Mrs. Janet Trost.

 

On the sick list with attacks of "flu" were Kenneth Frost and Mrs. Clara Frost.

 

Chicken Pox and mumps have been plaguing the children of the White School, four miles north of Withee.

 

The ladies missionary fellowship of the Alliance Church in Owen; were hostesses of the ladies of the Alliance churches of Curtiss, Greenwood and Marshfield recently.

 

Mrs. Glen Buchanan has been very ill.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Harris Johnson and family of Withee visited Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Grandy, near Marshfield.

 

Louise Rohland daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Rohland of Rt. 2, won first place in a contest given by the Abbotsford Sportsmen’s Show.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Adam Olszewski Jr., and family of Chicago were weekend visitors at the home of his parents in rural Withee.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hoffmeister of Milwaukee visited Mr. and Mrs. Howard Blazier for a few days last week.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Otto Calbaum of Oshkosh visited relatives over the weekend.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Fredericks and Mrs. Winnie Christoff were entertained at dinner Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Blazier in Owen.

 

Mrs. A. C. Little attended the Past Matrons meeting at the home of Mrs. Carl Holverson April 17.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Olson have returned home after visiting relatives in St. Paul, Minn., Baldwin and River Falls.

 

The Withee Homemakers met at the Withee Junior High School last week with Mrs. Isabelle Backe as leader in the absence of the president. The topic was projects for the coming year.

 

Last Thursday night the Royal Neighbors met for a special practice session at the home of Miss Natalie Scherf, Mrs. Oscar Parkinson and Miss Scherf were on the lunch committee.

 

Larry Hansen, his wife, Sue and baby daughter, Kriss, are visiting her parents in Wausau, and Larry’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Hansen, of Withee for a few days.

 

Mrs. William Veurink returned last Wednesday after spending a few weeks at Clearwater, Fla.
