Luce, Alfred L. (19 JUN 1879 - 15 JUL 1955)

 

Alfred L. Luce, 76, died at his home in Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.) , route 1, at 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 15, 1955.  He was born in Richland County, June 19, 1879.  He was married to Pearl Francis in Richland County, Sept. 7, 1918.  He lived in Richland County until he moved to Spencer in 1945.  A year ago he moved to the town of Loyal.

 

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Isaac Luce of the U.S. Navy, Alfred Luce Jr., at home, and Charles Luce of the U.S. Army; and by four daughters, Mrs. Russell (Geneva Holmes, Loyal, Mrs. Robert (Mary) Schadel, Markham, Ill.; Mrs. Herbert (Marjorie) Marschner, Marshfield, and Barbara Luce, at home.  Twelve grandchildren survive his, as do one sister, Mrs. Elnore Underhill, Reedsburg, and two half-brothers, Frank Luce of Mineral Point, and William Biers, Limeridge.

 

Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church at Loyal, Monday at 2 p.m.  Burial was in the Spencer Cemetery.  The Rev. Charles J. Swanson officiated.  James Colby sang "Abide With Me" and "Meet Me at the River."  Mrs. Byron Zepplin was accompanist.

 

Pallbearers were Alfred Luce, Charles Luce, Russell Holmes, Robert Schadel, Herbert Marschner, and Lawrence Holmes.

 

Out of town people who attended the services were: Charles Luce of the U.S. Army in Denver, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schadel, Markham, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Marschner, Marshfield; Mrs. Elnore Underhill and Mr. and Mrs. Everett White, Reedsburg; Mr. and Mrs. William Biers, Limeridge; Mrs. Bethel Hedding, Tomah; Mr. and Mrs. Letha Hedding, Sparta; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Marschner, Lindsey; and others from Spencer.
