Francis, Edward Linn (25 March 1893 - 28 June 1961)

 

Funeral services were conducted Saturday for Edward Linn Francis, 68, Neillsville, who died Wednesday at his home. The Rev. Verlyn W. Nelson of the Assembly of God Church officiated.  Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Mr. Francis was born March 25, 1893, in Clark County, where he spent his lifetime. He attended rural schools of the county and Loyal High School.  He entered service September 18, 1917, at Neillsville and left for overseas on May 8, 1918, returning to the United States August 8, 1919.  He was discharged from service August 13, 1919.  He received his barber’s license after returning from World War I and barbered at Greenwood.

 

On January 3, 1923, he was married to the former Lydia King. In 1936, they moved to Neillsville, where he followed the barber trade. He had been a barber for 36 years and retired three years ago.

 

He is survived by his wife, and one son, Harold Francis, a barber in Loyal. Three grandchildren also survive.

 

Pallbearers were: Ernest Snyder, Charles Poole, Ernest Vine, Arthur Carl, Alfred Magnuson and Leon Stanley.

 

Two hymns, "Some Golden Daybreak" and "Just a Closer Walk" were sung by the Rev. and Mrs. Warren Henderson, with Mrs. Henderson at the organ.

Colby, all of Loyal; Rev. and Mrs. W. Henderson, Whitehall; Mr. and Mrs. Sven Bonskold, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Clark, Mrs. Walter Garbarski, Mrs. Bob Schultz and Marjorie Schultz, and Mrs. John Genteman, Marshfield; Mrs. Darrell Buettner, Hackensack, Minn.; Mrs. Walter Carter, and George Swann, Crandon; Mrs. Alton Marvin, Merrillan; Mrs. Albert Dancken, Milwaukee; Mrs. Adelle Lutz and Arthur Lutz, Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Krause, Neenah.
