Schwoch, Theodore "Ted" Jr. (December 27, 1927 - February 12, 2011)


Theodore "Ted" Schwoch Jr., age 83, of Dorchester died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at his home.


Mr. Schwoch was born Dec. 27, 1927, in Jacksonville, Illinois the son of Theodore and Elsa Schwoch. He graduated from Rib Lake High School and attended the UW Madison.


In 1948, he purchased a farm in Deer Creek near Stetsonville which he sold in 1980. In 1954, he began his insurance career, working with Aid Association for Lutherans as well as other independent insurance companies for over 42 years. Mr. Schwoch also did appraisal work for Agri-Management Inc.


On October 21, 1950, in Rib Lake he was married to Faye Kelnhofer. The couple later divorced.


Mr. Schwoch served as Dorchester Village President from 1966-1976. He was instrumental in the creation of the Dorchester Park Corporation, the Housing Corporation and the Highland addition.


In 1991, Ted married Sally Miller, she preceded him in death in 1997. He was later married to Ellen Recore, she also preceded him in death.


Mr. Schwoch was a very active member of St Peter Lutheran Church, Dorchester/Curtiss Lions Club, Dorchester Days committee and the Dorchester Library building committee and a 27 year member of the Dorchester Volunteer Fire Dept.


Ted also served on the Medford School Board and was assessor for the town of Deer Creek until moving to Dorchester.


He enjoyed bowling, snowmobiling, camping, softball, fishing and deer hunting as well as spending time at the cottage on Lake Holcombe.


He is lovingly survived by his children, Yvonne (Bruce) Pawlowicz, Dorchester, Wenda (Larry Schlais) Schwoch, Minneapolis, Minn., and Kurt (Kathy) Schwoch, Dorchester; four Miller step-sons, Steve, Robert, Mark and Randy; seven Recore children, Mike, Terry, Cliff, Brandon, Dianne, Char and Andrea; one brother, Karl (Phyllis) Schwoch, Fall Creek; sisters, Elaine (Ken) Kovatch, Cottage Grove, Minn., and Caryl (Wayne) Galler, Hot Springs, Ariz., as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb 17, 2011, at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby.

 

The Rev Mark Neumann will officiate. A time of visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. at the church on Thursday. Burial will be in the Chelsea Cemetery. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
