Greeler, Janice G. (Marriage - 4 November 1961)

Bouquets of yellow, red and white chrysanthemums adorned the altar of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville Saturday, as the Rev. Norman Lindloff performed a double ring ceremony uniting in marriage, Miss Janice G. Greeler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Greeler, Rt. 1, Neillsville, and Harold A. Mayer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Mayer, Rt. 1, Fairchild.

The bride was attired in a white floor length gown of Chantilly lace and nylon tulle over taffeta. The full bouffant skirt was fashioned with tiers of lace and tulle, ending in a tulle flounce edged with scalloped lace. The fitted bodice was styled with a sequin-stared portrait neckline and long, tapered sleeves. A petal cap of silk organza, with each petal tipped with a pearl droplet, held her veil of pure silk illusion. She carried a bouquet of red roses.

Mrs. Roger Tyler, Granton, was her sister’s matron of honor.  Her bridesmaids were another sister, Mrs. Raymond Zipfel of Neillsville, and Mrs. Lyle Abrahamson of Fairchild.

Silk organza floor length gowns in shrimp and peacock were worn by the attendants.  Their fitted bodices featured draped necklines and bouffant skirts, designed with pouf backs and edged in satin binding. Tiny feather hats held their matching blusher veils.  They carried bouquets of colored carnations matching their gowns.

Roger Tyler of Granton was best man.  Groomsmen were Erland Greeler and Lyle Abrahamson of Fairchild. Raymond Zipfel, Neillsville and Marvin Wagner, Black River Falls, were the ushers.

"The Wedding Prayer" and "The Lord’s Prayer" were sung by Miss Carol West, accompanied at the organ by victor Lehman.

A reception was held at the home of the bride in the Town of York, and a supper was served in St. John’s school for 200 guests.

On their return from a wedding trip to northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin, the new Mr. and Mrs. Mayer will reside at 1407 Grand Ave., Neillsville. The bride is a graduate of Neillsville High School (1957) and is employed in the office of the County nurse.  Mr. Mayer, a graduate of Fairchild High School, is a milk hauler.

Guests present for the wedding were from Milwaukee, Marion, Wausau, Spencer, Fairchild, Granton, West Allis, Nekoosa, Sheboygan, Merrill, Marshfield, Brookfield, Black River Falls, Alma Center, and Minneapolis, Minn.
