Gilligan, Betty Ann (27 SEP 1958)

Miss Betty Ann Gilligan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Gilligan, Laona, and Kenneth Mertens, son of Mrs. Peter Mertens, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), were married Saturday at 9:00 a.m. in the holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen by the Rev. H. L. Crubel.  Music was furnished by the Sisters of the Holy Rosary.

For her wedding Miss Gilligan chose a white gown of nylon tulle and Chantilly lace over net and satin with embroidered sequins and pearls on a tulle yoke.  She carried a bouquet of red roses, white gladioli and Stephanotis.  She was given in marriage by her father.

Patsy Gilligan, Laona, was maid of honor, Dorothy Gilligan, Laona, and Bette Lou Kratochvil, Wausau, were bridesmaids.  They wore pink, blue and yellow floor length gowns of tulle and Chantilly lace over net and taffeta with Sabrina necklines.

Attending the groom were Eugene Pawlak, Withee, as best man, and George Bakke, Withee, and Gilbert Voelker, Thorp, as groomsmen.

Clarence Mertens and Keith Mertens were ushers.

Breakfast for the bridal party was held at the home of Mrs. Raymond Miller.  Dinner for relatives was served in the church dining room and a reception was also held there.  A dance followed at the Legion Hall.

The groom, a graduate of Withee High School, is in business with the Mertens Transport Co. and the bride is a graduate of St. Joseph’s School of Nursing.

After a northern wedding trip they will live in McFarland.
