Brown, Myra (3 JAN 1872 - 16 JUL 1960)

 

Friends and relatives paid their final respects to Mrs. George Brown, a resident of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) for more than 40 years, when they attended final rites conducted for her Monday afternoon.  She passed away at 1:00 a.m. July 16th, 1960 at the Havenet Nursing Home, Owen, where she had been a resident for the past several eyars.  Of late she had been suffering from complications of old age.

 

Services were held at 2:00 o’clock from the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home.  The Rev. Ralph Claybaugh, pastor of the First Congregational Church, Owen, officiated with burial being made at Riverside Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were Julius Johnson, Paul Strokirch, Arnold Hoeper, Fred Hoeper, Claude Hoeper, and William Hoeper.  Flowers were carried by Mrs. Margaret Hoeper, Mrs. Maude Hoeper and Mrs. H.M. Mauel Sr.

 

Mrs. George Brown, nee Myra Thurston, was born Jan. 3, 1872 at Janesville, Iowa.  At the time of her of her passing she had attained the age of 88 years, 6 months and 7 days.  On Dec. 10, 1891 she was married to George Brown at Waterloo, Iowa.  To this union four children were born, three of whom survive her passing away.

 

She and her husband moved to Owen in 1920 when he became associated with the lumber industry.  Mr. Brown preceded her in death, passing away in 1956.

 

Mourning her loss are two sons, Warren of Gladstone, Mich., and Earl of Rosemount, Minn., and one daughter, Mrs. Mildred Wallace of Davenport, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.  One daughter, Mrs. Hazel McCune, passed away Jul 23, 1926.
