Molzen, Betty (15 OCT 1960)

Given away in marriage by her father, Betty Jean Molzen became the bride of Lawrence Daniel Fagan on Saturday, Oct. 15, 1960, at 10:30 a.m.  Rev. Theodore C. Predoehl officiated at the ceremony performed at the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Withee.  The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Molzen, route 2, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Fagan, route 1, Withee.

The church was beautifully decorated with mixed bouquets of gladiolas.  Mrs. Herman Rabska of Withee served as organist, and the church congregation sang "O Perfect Love,."  Arlyn Mills was the soloist rendering the following selections: "Today, O Lord, We At Thine Altar Stand" and "Always Faithful, Ever True."

For her wedding the bride chose Chantilly lace over skinner satin with a chapel train.  The fitted lace Basque was outlined with a scalloped Sabrina neckline.  Long tapered lace sleeves in true tradition highlighted the bouffant skirt of lace and tulle with an elegant sweep of lace in the chapel train over nyriads of tulle ruffles.

The French imported silk illusion veil was held by a crown which was designed in a queenly fashion of seed pearls.  To complete her attire she carried a crescent bouquet of red roses and white carnations.

The bridesmaids wore identical floor length gowns of lavender lace with matching bolero jackets and many lace tiers.  Their matching tiaras were trimmed with velveteen wedding bells completed with blush veils.  They carried crescent bouquets of yellow mums and white chrysanthemums.

Little Miss Wendy Petke was the flower girl and Master Paul Nimbar was the ring bearer.

The groom’s attendants were Theodore Zawacki of Thorp, serving as best man, and Daniel Fagan, Withee, Roger Krasselt of Chili, and James Bakke of Withee serving as groomsmen.

Ushers for the wedding ceremony were Mr. Arthur Petke Jr. and Mrs. Arthur Petke Sr. of Withee.

Following the ceremony a noon dinner was served to about 150 guests at the Legion Hall at Owen.  Immediately following the dinner, Arlyn Mills sang the well-known song, "I Love Your Truly."  Arthur Petke Jr. of Withee read a poem, "Bride and Groom," written by his mother, Mrs. Alice Petke, and he also played beautiful accordion music for the remainder of the afternoon.

Mrs. Kenneth Phillips of Withee was in charge of the guest book and Miss Helen Dearth, Withee, along with Mr. Theodore Zawacki of Thorp, opened the gifts.  The bride’s aunts, Mrs. Bertha Koepsell and Mrs. Gertrude Mogensen were in charge of cutting the wedding cake.  The cake and coffee were served to the guests by Mrs. Alice Petke.

A wedding dance was held in the evening at the Silver Dome, located west of Neillsville, featuring Danny Strauss and his orchestra.

The out of state guests attended the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Steve Netkar and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Mogensen and family of Chicago, Miss Louis Koepsell, Mrs. Bertha Koepsell, and Mrs. Anna Molzen of Sioux Falls, S.D.

The bride is a 1960 graduate of the Owen-Withee Senior High School and the groom is a graduate of the Owen-Withee Senior High School in 1956, and a graduate of the Taylor County Teachers College at Medford in 1958.

The newlywed will make their home in Neillsville, where Mr. Fagan is principal and teacher in the Washburn School.
