Davel, Mary Ann  (29 MAY 1956)

St. Anthony’s Catholic Church was the scene of the Tuesday, May 29, wedding rites for Miss Mary Ann Davel and Allen Fred Wehrman. The Rev. Father N. E. King officiated. A breakfast followed at the bride’s home, a dinner in the church parlors, and a reception for 175 guests at the home of the bride. A wedding dance was given at Colby Park in the evening.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Davel wore a gown of white lace net over satin. Small ruffles trimmed the side panels of the skirt. Tiny seed pearls and sequins decorated the crown style head piece which held the fingertip veil and she carried red roses and white carnations. She was escorted to the altar by her father.

The gowns of the bridal aides were identical in style of ballerina length, they were fashioned of net over taffeta. Each wore a matching headband and a strand of pearls, a gift from the bride.

Miss Evelyn Shupe, as maid of honor, wore yellow. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Jerome Davel, a sister-in-law of the bride, who wore pink; Mrs. Louis La Barge, Vesper, a sister of the groom wore light green; and Mrs. Kenneth Bauer, Marshfield, wore blue. All carried carnations to match their gowns in color.

A brother of the bride, Pvt. Kenneth Davel, stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky, was the best man for the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Wehrman of rural Greenwood, Jerome Davel, Loyal, Louis LaBarge, Vesper, and Kenneth Bauer, Marshfield, were groomsmen.

The bride’s mother wore an old rose and silver print dress and Mrs. Wehrman Sr., wore a green dress with white trim.
