Greub, Mr. & Mrs. John Sr. (Gold - 22 SEP 1942)

Mr. and Mrs. John Greub Sr. were most happily surprised last Sunday when all members of the family, excepting one, gathered to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.  The surprise was arranged by the young folks, and when the first auto loads arrived Saturday evening to "stay over Sunday: the old folks were happy to have them come, but didn’t guess what was in store for the next day.  More than forty members of the family and other relatives were present at this great celebration.  Only one member of the family was unable to be present, Mrs. Kneubuehl, who is ill in the hospital in Waukesha.

John Greub and Miss Christine Weidman, both young people from Switzerland and Germany, who came to this country with a group of those who sought homes in a new world, were united in marriage at Monroe, on Sept. 22, 1892, and soon after located in Alma, where Mr. Greub operated a cheese factory for a year.  Then the family took up their residence on a farm at Columbia, where they remained until 1900, when they bought the farm north of this village (Humbird, Clark Co., Wis.).  In the year 1922 they retired from the farm and purchased the fine residence in this village which has since been their home.

Mr. and Mrs. Greub have been estimable residents of this community for more than forty years, and their large circle of friends join in heartiest congratulations on this golden wedding anniversary.
