Chili (10 June 1910)

The warm weather is very much welcomed in this neighborhood. The farmers want to raise some corn.

A large crowd from around here drove to Nasonville last Sunday to take in the picnic which was good. The Chili band furnished the music.  They played some pretty good pieces.

Herman Monday and lady drove to Nasonville Sunday.  We don’t know where Herman was Sunday night, but, Owens, the livery man said his horse didn’t get home very early.

Anton Hogenson the general merchant is having his store painted inside; John Schafer is doing the job.  He is a good painter.

H. Degener has changed the rooms over the store and is now having them plastered.  J. Rogers is mason, August Prust is carpenter, and Mr. Degener is helper.

George Waterman was out to his new home to visit his family and look at the crops.  Fred Brown is working for George until he gets out there himself.

Herman Henning has an automobile now.  He went to Marshfield after it Tuesday afternoon and he and family were out riding in the evening.

Mr. G. Bertschinger is the happy father of a daughter who was born Saturday, June 4th.

Those who have poll tax to work are all working on the streets now.

J. F. Henning has had some new lights put in the saloon and one outside to light up the front.  They give a good light.

Our blacksmith R. Ebert drove to Marshfield Tuesday evening.

The Woodmen will give a dance at the M. W. A. Hall Saturday evening, June 18.  Music by the Chili Star Band
