Weigel, Herman J. (24 NOV 1934 - 10 SEP 2011)

 

Herman J. Weigel, 76, of Colby, passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011 at the House of the Dove Hospice in Marshfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colby. Father Daniel Hackel will officiate. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, 2011 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford, and again on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church in Colby. Burial will follow the service at St. Mary's Cemetery in Colby.

Herman was born November 24, 1934 to Oscar and Tina (Weissenbeck) Weigel in Marshfield. He attended St. John's Catholic School in Marshfield. Herman and Anna Weis were united in marriage on June 2, 1956 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Rozellville. Herman worked most of his life as a mechanic at various service stations. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colby and formally the Knights of Columbus. Herman enjoyed snowmobiling and helping out at the racetrack. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. 

Herman is lovingly survived by his children: Carol Weigel of Necedah, Donna (Larry) Schmidt of Colby, Susan (Tracy) DuBois of Dorchester, James (Kim) Weigel of Colby, Jerold (Janis) Weigel of Jim Falls, Sandra (Randall) Busse of Curtiss, Tina Weigel of Necedah, and Mary (Gregory) Russell of Eau Claire. He is further survived by 20 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and his brothers and sisters: Marian Redig, Edwin Weigel, Jeannette Hilgart, Patricia Passer, and Lorraine Fleisner.

Herman is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ann, and his brothers, Sylvester Weigel and Oscar Weigel, Jr. 

Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
