Ley, Charles A. (22 March 1898 - 18 January 1963)

Funeral services were held Monday from St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Chili for Charles A. Ley, 64, who died Friday at his home in Chili.  The Rev. Carroll Walljasper officiated. Burial was made in the church cemetery.

The Ladies Altar Society recited a rosary Saturday evening at the Gilbertson Funeral Home in Granton. Sunday evening a general rosary service was read.

Mr. Ley was born March 22, 1898, in the Town of Fremont, and attended rural schools of that town.  On Feb. 3, 1920, he was married to the former Hilda Schweiger in Neillsville.  They farmed in the Town of Fremont until 1936, when they moved to Spencer. They had lived in Chili since 1942.

For several years Mr. Ley worked for the Chicago & Northwestern Railway as a section hand.  In later years he had been employed in Marshfield.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Irene) Engelbretson of Greenwood, and Mrs. Tom (Alice) Lang of Eau Claire; and a son Elmer, of Wisconsin Rapids.  Other survivors include six grandchildren and a brother, August Ley of Marshfield.
