Slowiak, Sophie (12 APR 1958)

Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Goettl are residing on Route 3, Stanley, following their marriage April 12, 1958.  The young couple exchanged marriage vows at 10 o’clock at St. Mary’s Czestochowa Church at Junction (Clark Co., Wis.), with Rev. Edward Masalewicz officiating at the double ring ceremony.

Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Slowiak of Route 3, Stanley, are the parents of the bride and the groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Herman Goettl, Route 3, Stanley.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was attired in a waltz length gown of white tulle over taffeta with an overskirt of scalloped ruffles and a lace jacket.  Her veil was held in place by a crown of pearls and sequins.  She also wore  pearl earrings and carried red roses.

Miss Lorraine Spaeth, cousin of the groom of Boyd, was the maid of honor and Marceline Goettl, the groom’s sister, was bridesmaid.  The identical gowns were light blue ballerina length of tulle and lace, and the full skirts were styled with ruffles.  Each wore a slip cap of straw and pearl necklaces and earrings, gifts of the bride.  The colonial bouquets they carried were composed of pink carnations.

Attending the groom were John Holewinski of Thorp, a friend, and Leonard Slowiak, Stanley, brother of the bride.  Steven Slowiak and Paul Slowiak, brother and cousin of the bride, ushered.

Mrs. Slowiak witnessed her daughter, Sophie’s marriage wearing a turquoise dress with black accessories.  The mother of the groom chose a navy blue suit with beige accessories.  Their corsages were of red roses.

The wedding breakfast was served at the Stanley Auditorium with covers laid for forty guests.  At the reception, held in the afternoon at the same place, four hundred guests were in attendance.

The bride and groom are both graduates of Stanley High School.

Pre-nuptial showers were given at St. Mary’s Church by relatives and friends, and at the home of Mrs. Gordon Kuehni by classmates.
