St. Jacque, Jeanne (21 JUN 1958)

St. James Parish in La Crosse was the scene of a pretty wedding on Saturday, June 21, 1958, when Miss Jeanne St. Jacque, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo St. Jacque, La Crosse, became the bride of James Rowan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Tobola, Cadott.  Performing the double ring ceremony at a nine o’clock Nuptial High Mass was an uncle of the bride, Father Jerome Kamla of the Roman Catholic Church in Knowlton, Wis.

Attractively arranged bouquets of tea roses decorated the church for the occasion, and nuptial music was presented by the church choir.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, was lovely in her floor length gown of embroidered silk organza over satin.  Her train and veil were chapel length with the latter held in place by a tiara of seed pearls.  Red roses composed her bridal bouquet.  As the choir sang, the bride place a similar bouquet on the altar of the Blessed Virgin.

Miss Judith St. Jacque of Milwaukee was her sister’s maid of honor, and the bridesmaids were: Miss Mary Jane Rowan of Milwaukee, sister of the groom, Mrs. James St. Jacque of La Cross, sister-in-law of the bride; and Miss Marie Weiland, La Cross, friend of the bride.  They were attired in identically styled waltz-length gowns of embroidered nylon organza, with the maid of honor’s gown pink and the bridesmaids blue.  Picture hats in matching colors completed their costumes.  They carried baskets of pastel colored daisies.  Their crystal necklaces and bracelets were gifts of the bride.

Serving as best man at the wedding was James Landry of Cadott, and groomsmen were John Rowan, Cadott, and James and Jerome St. Jacque, La Crosse.  Ushers were Tyrone Schwalbe and Bruce Decheine.  The groom and his attendants wore tuxedos and pink carnation boutonnieres.

The mother of the bride selected a blue lace dress with white accessories for the occasion, and the groom’s mother chose a beige lace dress with matching accessories as her attire.  Both wore corsages of pink carnations.  The grandmothers of the bride and groom pinned white carnation corsages to their costumes.

Breakfast for the bridal party and immediate families was given by the bride’s parents at the Fireside, La Crosse.  A wedding reception was held in the reception rooms of the Mary Sawyer Auditorium at La Crosse from two to five o’clock in the afternoon.  Approximately 250 guests extended best wishes to the young couple.

Following a short wedding trip to northern Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Rowan will be at home to their friends at 1425 Pine St., La Crosse.

Jeanne is a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School and is employed in the dental office of Dr. Bentz.  Jim, who is employed with the Postal Dept. of La Crosse, is a CHS gradute, and is now a senior at La Crosse State College.

Guests who attended the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Koltis, Mrs. Leo Hedler and Janet, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Boardman and family, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Tobola, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Boardman, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Boardman, Mrs. Grace Boardman, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), and Miss Dorothy Boardman of Milwaukee.
