Isenberger, Harold D. (1 December 1919 - 21 October 2011) With Flag

Harold D. Isenberger, 91, of Stanley died on Friday, October 21, 2011, at Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley.  He was born on December 1, 1919, in Galt, Iowa, the son of the late Jacob Oscar and Mabel (Warden) Isenberger.  Harold grew up in the Stanley area and graduated from Stanley High School.  On December 7, 1946, he was united in marriage to Iris Soderberg of Stanley.

Harold enlisted in the Army on June 24, 1940, and went on to serve his country as a soldier in World War II, stationed in Honolulu, California, Okinawa, the Philippines, and other islands in the South Pacific.  He later served during the Korean War with the National Guard until his retirement from service in 1979.

Residing in Stanley with Iris and his four children, Harold and Iris were instrumental in founding the Faith Evangelical Free Church in Stanley.  Harold served as a Deacon and Church Chairman.  He also sang in the choir, led worship services, taught multiple Bible study classes, and eventually became Principal of Faith Christian Academy.  Harold had three loves in his life: his God, his country, and his family, and he was a devoted servant to them all.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Iris, of Stanley; Mike (Judy) Isenberger, Dwight (Roxan) Isenberger, and Nola (Leo) Peloquin, all of Stanley, and Cheryl Isenberger of Thorp; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Eloraine Heagle, Betty Kvale, and Marilyn Isenberger; and his brother, Warden "Bud" Isenberger.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at Faith Evangelical Free Church of Stanley, with Rev. Mike Thompson and Randy VanDeLoo officiating.  Visitation was from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the Plombon Funeral Home in Stanley and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
